Eco-friendly products are selling in masses nowadays and since the mobiles industry is one of the swiftest growing consumer market the environmental implications are obvious.

Chute phone

A “green” mobile phone is in the concept stage and it is called Chute Phone. The handset is made out of bamboo shoots and its designer, Michael Laut underlines the qualities of this material. Bamboo shoots are the fastest growing woods on Earth and the concept called the Chute uses the bamboo because its durability outgoes most of the plastic polymers.

The bamboo phone looks much more alive than metallic plastics. The environment protections is the main keyword for the Chute Phone and even if the Chute phone will not make in into production, this is a statement that the moment for the adoption of the Eco-friendly casings has arrived. We have seen wood cases before, but never on such stylish SmartPhone.

Bamboo Phone

A recent eco-phone concept is the Bamboo Phone and this one has even “greener” features. The designer Gert-Jan van Breugel is the mastermind behind this innovative concept that should decompose rapidly after it is disposed of and will grow out a bamboo shoot because it contains bamboo seeds.

The handset is made out of bio-plastic and bamboo and the number of resources used for manufacturing will equal the number of the renewed resources. Worthy of mentioning is the fact that this cell phone uses flex energy and uses a monochrome display to clearly differentiate itself from its energy hungry counterparts.
