Morola`s mobile phone division has an uncertain future
Sad news from Motorola, inventor of the worlds first mobile phone, the company is considering selling its mobile phone division. On Thursday Motorola announced its mobile phone division is in an operating loss of $500 millions.
The mobile phone business bring 52% of the Motorola`s revenue and in the last few years its market share shrunk because of Nokia and Samsung competition.
Another possibility is to separate the mobile phone division. Meanwhile, possible buyers are Samsung corporation, LG and ZTE. Sony Ericsson is also a possible candidate because the company officials announced they wants to increase the sells volume on the US market, where Motorola is still the leader.
În 1983, Motorola manufactured the first cell phone - Motorola DynaTAC. Following the sweeping success of the RAZR series (more than 50 million devices sold worldwide) which started the slim phone craze, Motorola “forgot†to focus on another models, so when the RAZR became obsolete, things turned pretty rough for Motorola.
