If Samsung already has the Samsung Genio as successor to the Samsung Tocco Lite, well LG has its own successor to the LG Cookie: The LG GD510 Pop. And happily, this eco-friendly smartphone will be released this month, as LG Electronics has just announced.
The Pop has a brushed aluminum body and is sleek with a regal air. The unit’s sleek design is accented by a single button on the face that functions as the menu, end and cancel keys, depending on the phone’s mode. A slim strip of light around the button shines either green or red to indicate the handset’s function. It looks so darn stunning that you simply want to own it. But does it worth buying it? According to the guys from knowyourmobile.com, unlike some other eco models, the Pop sports a pretty respectable spec list that includes a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display with resolution of 240 x 400 pixels and 256k color capacity, display that extends almost to the edges with a narrow 4.8 mm bezel giving the illusion of an uninterrupted sheet of glass; Bluetooth and microSD support. According to LG, Pop is designed for those who desire a ’simple touchscreen phone.’
This compact cell phone from LG comes with a 3.15 mega pixel built in camera with features like adjustment of light effects, auto focus and various effects to enhance the image quality. The image features a high resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. The phone also features a video recording capability for capturing and sharing the un-forgetful memories. It doesn’t come with Wi-Fi, 3G or GPS, but it sports an internal memory of 8GB, 3.5mm headphones jack and is capable of playing movies and music of most of the popular file formats. Internet browsing will apparently be as easy affair, with the GD510’s built-in browser.
Moreover, the Pop sports other key features and technical specifications like:
– Music player and stereo FM radio with RDS for a overdose of non-stop entertainment
– GPRS and EDGE of Class 10 and latest technology HSCSD
– Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP for rapid sharing of data with other Bluetooth devices
– Multi-functional home key for easy navigation through favorite function
– Large Volume 8GB of internal storage memory which can be expanded via TBC card slot
And for those environmentally conscious individuals, the LG GD510 has the option of swapping the regular battery with a solar back panel. Sold separately for an undisclosed sum, it will apparently provide 2mins 15 seconds of talk time or 180-minutes on standby after just 10 minutes in direct sunlight.
LG GD510 Pop will be available beginning the end of this month in Europe, followed by other markets. Prices haven’t yet been announced, but it’s a fact that they will vary country-to-country and will be announced separately in each individual market.
