Google phone - the Android comes to life
T-Mobile will be launching tomorrow (September 23rd ) the first Android OS phone. Worth mentioning for all Android enthusiasts is that the winners of the Android Developer Challenge I were announced last week and ten teams won $275,000 each and another ten won $100,000 each for their interesting and useful application submissions such as finding a cab or scanning bar codes.
The HTC Dream became T-Mobile G1 soon after the release (in less than a month). The images and video of the revolutionary Android operating system became soon available and also the confirmation that the Dream will be called the G1 from T-Mobile.
The Android OS was in development for some time and information finally started rumbling to the surface in August, when a the leaked video below supposedly showed the HTC Dream in action. The video is 100% real and shows that the HTC Dream is now branded T-Mobile G1.
The Google Chrome new browser uses the exact same Webkit as the browser contained in the Android OS, and with good reason, considering Google is the developer of both. How about prices? It is sure that G1 will be a real Smartphone for the masses, a lot cheaper that Apple iPhone, however packing a similar bundle of features: GPS, touchscreen, advanced multimedia and office capabilities.
