LG KE990 Viewty

The KU990 Viewty stripped of 3G capability version is out on the market, the twin`s name is LG KE990 (E stands for EDGE). The new device is more a camera and less a phone since it lacks the HSDPA modem.

Of course, this ‘improvement’ will improve battery life and shrink the price a bit, however LG KE990 Viewty may sound more of a downgrade as not all markets want that 3G speed. A 2,5G camera phone like KE990 should stir some interest to other markets and would allow more competitive pricing, unfortunately no price for KE990 has yet been announced.

Removing the 3G module has created room for a mechanical slider on the back of the phone used as camera lens cover. Although the Jog Wheel on the back has been redesigned its primary functions: volume control, zoom and navigation scroll are the same as with KU990.
