Motorola KRZR K3

Motorola K3 adopts the shapes and curves of the Motorola K1 KRZR, the main difference is the metal in casings of the K3 and the added 3G functionality . The impression is that Motorola has launched a copycat, disguised in metal with chrome-plated surfaces casing. We have followed this new trend during 2007: positioning older handsets in a more expensive market segment, due to the new finishing touches of the handset`s exterior.

The K3 surface is not a magnet to fingerprints, being chrome-plated shot with blue steel. The metal grill of the external speaker, contributes to the overall glamorous impression. Considering the features on the K3 and K1 ,the KRZR K3 wins, but it’s held back by a mid-range camera and aging menu design.

Tech-talks

Not only delivering a new design utilizing quality materials and finishes, the KRZR K3 also takes advantage of 3G technology via HSDPA connectivity, enabling data transfer speeds up to 3.6 MBs. The new model is based on the successful glossy first KRZR but builds on it by improving the functionality and the hardware, now supporting 3G networks. We noticed the larger and improved displays (The larger external display is now readable even in bright light but unfortunately this is not the case with the internal one), the solid construction, the additional VGA camera for video calling, but also the flash absence on camera.

Unlike the CDMA version of the K1 (K1m), the K3 doesn’t feature external keys for controlling the media player. The internal keyboard provides an overall ergonomic feel, all buttons are big enough, press with no worries and have tactile feedback. The price range for the Motorola KRZR k3 free of contract is 320$- 410$.
