Nokia is pretty sure that there are people who don’t care about the global economic crisis. The Finnish cell phone giant joins in the game along Gresso, Mobiado and Vertu with a new and unexpected luxury model of Nokia’s long-lived 8800 fashion phones.
When nobody was expecting yet another luxury model, Nokia continues to prove its dedication to the crazily expensive slider with its newest model, the Gold Arte. The new device is plated with 18-carat gold and has white leather on the front and back.
Other than its looks, the latest 8800 is pretty much identical to its Carbon Arte predecessor, with 4GB of internal memory, 3G capabilities, OLED display and a 3.2 megapixel camera. A memory card slot is still missing, but we should remember that it is all about the 18-carat gold plating and the luxury feel, not about the features.
There is no information on its price yet, but having in mind the precious metal, we guess it will be more expensive than the Carbon, We don’t know exactly when it’s slated for release in Europe, but we expect it to carry a pretty “impressive” price tag, exceeding the 1000 Euro mark (1350$).
