The LG GC900, also known as the Viewty 2, was apparently seen recently at the CeBIT show that is taking place in Germany. Reportedly shown under close supervision, with no photos allowed, this new cell phone is said to have a slight resemblance to the LG secret and has a large 3.1-inch WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) resolution touchscreen display.
It also has LG’s new 3D interface called S-class which was first seen on the LG Arena KM900, it uses a cube layout so you can program each side of the cube with shortcuts to your applications. There are 4 home screens which you can rotate between by flicking the screen this all makes navigation a lot easier. LG’s Viewty 2 is said to have a slide out numeric keyboard and also an accelerometer sensor.
Based on a photo of a spec sheet seen at the event, the LG GC900 is believed to include an 8 megapixel autofocus camera with Schneider kreuznach lens, image stabilization and smile recognition, backed by a Xenon flash. There are also some high tech features such as face detection which is when the camera detects up to 10 human faces and adjusts its focus and exposure to take a clear picture. You can also geo tag pictures so you can remember the location the picture was taken in. The LG Viewty 2 also has a video recorder so you can capture video footage and has a great feature were you can record in high speed or slow motion.
According to a leaked specs list the phone is expected to have Wi-Fi and HSDPA support for high-speed data connections, with a built-in GPS receiver for navigation. It sounds much like the Renoir, but the difference is that the KC910 Renoir lacks the heavily promoted S-Class Touch UI and the plenty of memory 32 GB in-built memory the GC900 is rumored to come with. The phone is reported to use LG’s new S-Class 3D user interface, as well.
If you like your music then the LG Viewty 2 has a MP3 player and FM radio with RDS so you can download music or listen to your favourite radio station and also supports Bluetooth stereo. Other features include a video call camera, Div X/Xvid video support, DOLBY Mobile audio and push email.
The most recent rumor about this cell phone is that it’s going to arrive in Orange UK network some time in Q2 2009. The company didn’t give any information about the cost of the phone, but, according to some leaked information (a sneak peak of Orange UK release schedule) the LG GC900 or otherwise known as LG Viewty 2 is planned to hit the shelves in June this year.
