Samsung G600

Samsung’s slider design has been around for some time (the Samsung D500 model started the trend), and has replaced the clamshell and in some cases the candybar as the most popular format. Just like we have seen many times before, Samsung pays a lot of attention to the design of the mobile phone, which is also the case with the Samsung G600. The G600 opens and closes with an easy sliding action, and has a smooth silky finish that’s glossy but not a fingerprint magnet like some. The ergonomics just work really well and measuring 1,5 cm it is bit thninner than the ultra-slim models.

A combination of tight outlines and round forms make sure the camera looks good, but not overly prominent so Samsung G600 will certanly have more than a few fans in the businesy segment. In terms of looks the initial impressions of this mobile are all positive. It’s good practical size and now-classic slimline slider format make the phone easier to hold and adds extra ergonomy, it’s just a fantastically good phone to use with nothing to detract from the experience. The lowest price we could find is £360.00 at Vodafone UK, however this is the total contract cost for 18 months.

Tech-talks

The Samsung G600 is a so-called slider mobile with extensive features, including a well protected 5 Megapixel digital camera (beast with autofocus, LED flash and 4x digital zoom, high quality video recording at 640 x 480 pixels ). The 5-megapixel camera is an obvious selling point, a high-megapixel camera in a mobile phone is no unknown territory for Samsung - last year, they presented the Samsung SCH-B600, featuring a 10 Megapixels camera, but unfortunately it is not available in Europe. Even though the Samsung beats the Sony in megapixel terms, the K810i can still (just) keep its crown as camera king considering the better optics.

There are some software tweaks that are a bit frivolous but the battery superb life compensates those. The keypad is responsive when pressed and there are no touch-sensitive keys. The large screen could be rated as Samsung’s best screen ever (2.2 inches diagonally, 16 M colors, 240 x 320 pixels). Another important gadget, the music doesn’t disappoint and considering the support for dual wireless Bluetooth stereo headsets, G600 could easily replace your iPod. In the sales package there is also included a 1Gb memory card.
