Samsung i900 Omnia
Samsung Omnia i900 is no longer yesterday`s gossip, now it is about to be launched and today its specs and first photos are unveiled. This PocketPC uses the latest Windows Mobile OS version and announces itself as a serious competitor for the soon to come iPhone 3G.
Although the design is very iPhone-like, because of its announced features Samsung Omnia is also one of the HTC Touch Diamond rivals, however it seems like the TouchFLO 3D interface should be a bit more spectacular than the one coming with Samsung i900.
Omnia will star the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and a WideQVGA 3.2 Inch display (the pixels resolution is 240 x 400 and also an optic mouse should be available, similar as Samsung i780). Besides the HSDPA modem (7.2 Mbps) and the WiFi support, another trendy feature available for Omnia is an accelerometer.
The i900 camera has a 5 megapixeli sensor and is well equipped with autofocus, face detection and smile detection mechanisms. For pictures geo-tagging, the internal GPS antenna is used.
Samsung ported the TouchWiz interface on Windows Mobile, especially for this handset, that should be available in July all over Europe. Measuring only 12.5mm, Omnia will come in two versions: an 8GB version and a 16 GB one ( microSD card slot is available for both versions),
