Samsung Omnia (i900) unboxing
At first glance, Omnia is a all-in-one personal assistant: hi-tech in a slim & smooth casing, advanced business & multimedia functions that simply offer more for the technology demanding users.
First thing that meets the eye is the generous 3,2 inch touchscreen display that does not necessarily require a stylus for use. The main menu is a collection of widgets organized in a vertical bar in the left part of the screen. Launching the mentioned widgets result in a vertical left bar action for each of them, leaving the center of the display as a drag & drop workspace.
One of the focus points with this Smartphone is the operation and navigation speed, it lives up to the highest expectations. Most of the applications are opened instantly and also switching from portrait to landscape mode is realized very precise, with and interesting 3D graphical effect.
The Internet link is achievable with the HSDPA modem or Wi-Fi (WLAN) and there are 2 browsers available: Opera Mobile and Internet Explorer. The touchscreen controls very smoothly the page zoom, a control that seems more efficient as iPhone.
On the multimedia side, Samsung Omnia can play the XviD, DivX and much more formats because it includes a bundle of preinstalled codecs while the photo camera is better than most of the other 5 MP camera phones competitors. The GPS functionality does not require the GSM network data transfer so it can be used free, similar with the GPS navigators.
