Sony Ericsson P1

Fresh on the GSM phones market, P1 appearance is very hard to neglect. The new Sony-Ericsson P1 comes as a combination of two earlier models, the beginning of the united P and M series . While the design is very business-like reminding of P990, the slim form factor and the half-QWERTY keyboard belongs undoubtedly to M600.

The technology upgrades that P1 brings together are the WiFi (WLAN) connectivity and the Cybershot 3.15 megapixels camera with autofocus, flash and video QVGA capture at 15 fps. However, the most welcomed improvement in P1 is the battery autonomy, up to 10 h of talk time and 18 days in standby.

Tech-talks

The half-QWERTY keyboard of the Sony-Ericsson phones is a controversial subject, turning out to be a bit too delicate, maybe cumbersome, but definitely useless for large fingers. However, if you think the battery autonomy its mostly significant and you feel comfortable with the hybrid keyboard, your choice should definitely be Sony Ericsson P1. We can only guarantee the quality of P1 photos.

Sony-Ericsson P1 uses the same software platform of its predecessors: Symbian OS v9.1, UIQ 3.0 and the 6.5 cm QVGA touchscreen. In terms of features, P1 equals P990, the hi-tech SmartPhone from Sony-Ericsson. We noticed however, the lack of the EDGE and mostly important, of HSDPA, for fast data transfers. As an alternative to P1, in the same range of email and messaging phones, Nokia comes with E61i, a phone with full QWERTY keyboard and fast data transfers enabled.
