Sony Ericsson P990
Built on the proven form factor of previous P series communicators , Sony Ericsson P990i Smartphone is coupled with the latest in mobile technology and is clearly aimed at the tech-minded business users. P990i brings many improvements to its P910 PDA style predecessor and a new software platform: Symbian 9.1 with the UI 3.0.
With a sleek design and incorporating a new hardware QWERTY keyboard under the flip, Sony Ericsson P990 is a little on the bulky side weighting 155g, however, the main issue that turned off people when the phone was initially released in 2006 is the exorbitant price: 1.000$. Now, in Q4 2007, the P990 price has dropped around 400$.

Tech-talks
Being the first phone with the Symbian 9.1 platform, P990 is also one of the firsts Smartphones that includes support for 3G/UMTS and for Wi-Fi networks (WLAN wireless connectivity ). The P990i is a true genuine mobile office featuring a 2 megapixel camera and a wealth ofapplications: business card scanner, 80Mb on board memory (Memory Stick PRO Duo up to 4GB), Blackberry Push Email support, high quality music and media player, FM Radio with RDS and support for Bluetooth stereo headsets.
With refined and attractive design, it shares the same characteristic with is predecessor: the flip down small numerical keypad covering the bottom half of the display. One of the most popular features in P910,the huge display, is now replaced with a smaller touch screen and improved resolution display. The main problem for the P990 remains the buggy firmware, making the phone unreliable and slow in operation.
