Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1

The tone was set by Sony Ericsson the Mobile World Congress 2008 by announcing 7 brand new handsets. The jump start of it all turned quite impressive, as Sony Ericsson produced a touchscreen Windows Mobile Professional with a full QWERTY keyboard.

XPERIA X1 was presented by Sony Ericsson as a brand of its own and the intention is obviously to develop it in parallel with their other devices. With the “arc slider” form factor, XPERIA X1 is the device to usher in the new lineup. Another surprise is that the device runs on the yet unannounced Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. Sony Ericsson did not disclose any info about the hardware part of the device too, but some of the photos cast away all doubts about the 520 MHz CPU used along with the Qualcomm 7200 chipset, the 128MB of available RAM and the 1500 mAh battery.

Starring the 3-inch VGA 800×480 touchscreen display, as well as the optical joystick navigation, XPERIA X1 includes almost all connectivity media - from a 3.5mm audio jack to A-GPS (Assisted GPS), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, everything is included.

XPERIA X1 also has a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera and will come with 400MB of internal storage. To everyone` surprise it is expandable through the microSD card slot (no more Memory Stick Micro (M2) for SE ?). The handset will have support for all the four GSM network bands and four 3G network bands as well. HSDPA and HSUPA technologies ensure swift file transfers around.
