Sony Ericsson Z555

Z555 is Sony-Ericsson answer to Nokia Prism collection: a fashion phone for the masses that comes relatively cheap and has a minimum of necessary features. Z555 is a clamshell phone with a less daring design than Prism, with a diamond finish on the front side.

Besides its design Z555 offers a couple of interesting gesture controls (e.g. answer by shaking the phone), a media player and an outstanding battery life: 8 h of talk time and 2 weeks in stand by. We would have appreciated the latest version of Walkman, but this is also not included. The Design Collection will be available in selected markets starting with this months, unfortunately the price has not yet been set..

Tech-talks

In terms of features, Sony Ericsson Z555 is a basic phonr: the main display has a low resolution of 176×220 pixels and the outer 128×36 pixels OLED display is monochrome. Z555 is a 2,5G phone benefiting only from GPRS and EDGE data transfer modes and an obsolete 1.3 megapixels camera.

Lately SE has been using this older megapixel camera instead of using the 3 megapixels Cybershot camera that made K800 and K810i the best camera phones in 2007. The 2 megapixels camera would a;sp have been an option for nowadays SE models but we can only guess the reasons behind this downgrade: the price.
