The first ever pre-4G mobile phone hits the Rusian market

HTC MAX 4G

The Taiwanese cell phone manufacturer High Tech Computer (HTC) and the Rusian carrier Scartel (the Yota Mobile WiMAX network carrier) recently announced the first cell phone to integrate the GSM standard and the WiMAX support. As a reminder, the WiMax technology is a the Wi-Fi upgrade, for high speed wireless internet over large areas, considered to be a 3G data transfer improvement (or pre 4G).

The HTC MAX 4G can be classified as the 4`th generation mobile phones (4G) that combines the voice, high speed data transfers and multimedia content support. HTC MAX 4G is custom made for the Rusian network to enable the Yota TV broadcast service ( 14 FREE TV channels and 23 until end of this year) and Yota Music (a catalog with more than 50.000 records).

The device runs on the Windows Mobile 6.1 platform, at the heart of the hardware being a Qualcomm 528 MHz processor. To complete the impressive specs list: a 3.8 inch touchscreen display, 8 GB, Wi-Fi, GPS and 3,2 megapixel camera with autofocus. It seems that iPhone has just opened Pandora`s box, the real question is when/if HTC MAX 4G will arrive in US.
