PacketVideo press release mentions the gadget will start shipping by the end of this year and there will be several versions to cover all the available TV standards: DVB-H, MediaFLO, TDtv and streaming WiMAX; making this device usable world wide. Although this TV tuner should be compatible with all Wi-Fi devices, its producer underlines the compatibility with Apple iPhone and Nokia N-series.
The small device that that brings mobile TV on your handset measures only 6.4 x 1.8 x 4 cm (a credit card width and length) and uses a Li-Ion battery. Although not mentioned in the specs, the gadget should enable sharing the TV reception for all the users connected trough the wireless network. Nokia and LG have included TV reception modules in some high-end handsets, but this gadget from PacketVideo could be extremely popular judging by the increasing number of users who would appreciate TV on their cell phones.
